From what i have seen of campus videos, Princeton seemed to have the best dorms and friendliest people. Of course, what you don't see first-hand can be misleading.

I loved this post, it was so helpful when I was in the midst of writing dozens of essays and still trying to keep up with school...what a stressful time in our lives, huh? this highlights why it would be a dream come true to go to princeton, but for now, with a >10% acceptance rate, i probably should just focus on not getting my hopes up : /

Not to take away from Princeton's many great virtues, but high quality housing is, alas, not one of them.

Thank you for writing this. I'll keep it to look back on if that fateful day comes...

Yeah, the Whitman dorms are nice, but the other ones.... Though if you get a really good room draw you can get an awesome room in a tower or something. I think there's even a 14 person suite right over Blair arch!

There's not. Evan Thomas (a journalist in residence) lives in an apartment in Blair Arch some days of the week, but no students do.

I loved this post, but unfortunately it just made me want to go to Princeton EVEN MORE. I guess that's kind of counter to the whole point of it...

When my dad was at Princeton in the early 80s there was... too bad they gave it to some journalist.

It's definitely made Princeton a serious consideration for me now. Before this, it was mostly the very generous financial aid package that attracted me. I really might just reply "yes" May 1.

Anyone know if visiting students can still stay with Princeton students? I didn't see anything about it on the visiting section of the admissions website, but perhaps I'm not looking in the right place?

admitted students are hosted by current princeton students. There is no program set up (nor has there been in the recent past) to allow students who are just visiting (ie juniors looking at college) to stay with current students. There would just be too many people, since 20,000 people applied to princeton this year. Recruited atheletes stay with team members during their visits, and iif you can find someone to let you stay in their room then you're welcome to stya, but the admissions office is not involved.

I'm admitted. I'm not totally set on staying overnight with a student, but I really need to visit soon and sleeping somewhere overnight would be much nicer than driving up 4 hours in the morning and then driving back 4 hours the same night.
