Surfing?

How would Princeton (or any other Ivy) view an EC such as surfing?

I know it's non-sequitur, but I competed with my school surfing team (there's two of us).

How would The Ivies view this, would they congratulate on our individuality and doing what we love, or would they curse us for being non-conformists? I.E. Those bloody chaps do something other than polo? Perposterous! (that last bit was a joke)

Would it help? (a lot?)

It will definitely help but I don't think they will view it very differently than if you had been on a more traditional high school sports team. However I imagine it could make a pretty unique and awesome essay topic.

Definitely wouldn't hurt you. Don't even worry about that.

I feel that the goal of an applications is to be yourself as much as you possibly can and just depict what a fantastic, awesome, cool person you are. Your transcript and SATs can show that you're smart but what will make you stand out are your activities, commitments, and especially your essays.
