    Hi Rousse54
I've been reading the engineering forum and wanted to ask you-- my S14 will be applying to CU this fall for engineering. We visited CU (as well as CSU and Mines) earlier this month and he fell head over heels for CU. Can you give me any inside info about engineering in general at CU, the engineering quad dorms, and the general party scene at CU? This latter issue worries me, since I have heard about CU's reputation as a party school. Are students in the engineering program/dorms less "susceptible" to the party influence?
And one more question-- my son loves snowboarding-- how easy is it to get to the more well known places, like Breckenridge? Does CU have a club or anything? Thank you! BfloGal

David was accepted off of the waitlist at UCSB and will be going there. Did you son get his dorm assignment at CU yet?

David just got admitted to UCSB from the waitlist, so now he is really torn. They do not have an undergard degree in Business.

University of Colorado at Boulder: Dining Hall job

Anyone out there know anything about students working in the dining halls? My son got his housing confirmation and I am trying to convince him to turn in the application to work maybe hourly occasionally for the dining hall services at CU. I told him it would be a good way to earn some spending money. He keeps saying they probably do not pay very much and he would do better trying to find a job off camps. But i think that will be hard to do, and it would be so convenient to just work on campus through the dining hall services department. Does anyone know anyone who ever did this and if so, how was it, how much did they get paid, etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated. We do not qualify for any aid and we are desperate for him to earn some money to help with the very expensive out of state tuition! Thanks!

Rousse54: My counselor called and talked to them and that's what i said. I agree, its extremely unfair, but what can we do? Hope the UC's accept us because i know they don't go off location.

Read your recent posts with interest, re. Cal Poly rejection. My daughter was outright rejected from SLO (civil E) while receiving the UCLA likely letter. Seems fishy!
I don't have a problem with SLO being super-selective, but it seems unfair to "spring it" on applicants without warning, when the school's published accepted stats are so much lower. I could imagine students NOT applying to UCLA or Berkeley, thinking they were almost surely in at SLO. If SLO better publicized its high cutoffs by major, at least students would be able to adjust their application strategy accordingly.
