Then she needs a RANGE of coats (value is found in layered systems like Columbia) for a) wind blockage b) water repellentcy c) heat trapping (pile or down or fiberfill) Also get Goretex, Thinsulate and other technology outer layer items that allow water vapor to wick away from the body. Water PROOF is only for downpours. If you trap water, she is quickly going to be wet, and then soon cold and miserable.
