I didn't want to spend more than $300 on my MOB dress. I ended up finding a $650 dress for less than $155 on Last Call (Neiman Marcus), online. I wanted a very nice dress, but I knew it would be worn a total of one time (by me, anyway). I was fortunate to find a great deal on a really nice dress ... but I would NOT have paid $650.
I love hearing the stories from those who have survived!
We got great news yesterday - D & FSIL originally were going to get married in our church in the suburbs & have the reception in the city (45 minutes - one hour drive). They finally came to their senses & decided to get married in the city. There is a wonderful church that does fabulous work in the city that is our denomination (I point this out because I am happy to give them money for the privilege of using their church) - it is walking distance to the venue & very near the hotel we are using. Our minister contacted them & they said we could use the church ... IF there was no baseball game that day. They rent out their lot for the game, because the stadium is across the street. We have been waiting anxiously for the MLB schedules to be released. Yesterday was the day ... and no home game that day. Woohoo!!
What on earth makes you think it is acceptable to treat a coworker in that manner? She was nothing but professional in response to you, but you were on a mission to ... for lack of a better term, SPANK her (verbally, of course). You are the CFO, for heaven's sake. Not only do you lack decency and professionalism, but you bullied someone whose value to the organization is irreplaceable. I suspect you, on the other hand, could be easily replaced. If only wishes would come true.
A high school classmate is the communications director for the Red Cross in Houston. It made me think about all of the people from Houston who are working to help with rescue and recovery ... while their own lives have been as directly impacted as those of the people they are helping. These are the unsung heroes in situations like this.
