Yeah, ours don't put test scores on. That's fine.

Finalist!
Thought my essays were good. Was told my Rec's were good, but never worked with the teachers to check. 2/604. Rigorous enough course load with a lot of APs, and have scored an avg of 4 on my last 6 AP exams. My SAT scores were horrible-an 1840. SAT II scores were 790, 640, 580. I accidently forgot to include that I was retaking them, but my common app shows my Oct. scores that just came in, with the much improved 2150 (1380 CR+M), and all those scores are being sent in right now. ACT was a 28. I am the definition of EC's at my school, and hold various leadership positions with lots of community service. But I'm not too confident of being matched because I didn't put in a stellar effort in the supplements, and I'm not sure if my QB app is good enough. But I am a 1st gen college student, immigrant, and my widowed mother makes <25K income, so that helps.

Hello! Congrats!
I am applying to regular decision instead of the match program. However, I do not wish to use Questbridge application because I believe the essays and short answers need improvement. Will I be at a disadvantage if I didn't submit my Questbridge application? Moreover, will colleges think negatively of me for not submitting my Questbridge application despite being a finalist?

Wooh, finalist! <3 I was pretty surprised because my scores and grades are really low...
ACT: 27
SAT II's: 730 chemistry
Rank: 22/234 (lol, I know.)
GPA: ~3.7 (huge upward trend.. Freshman year was like a 3.2...)
Activities: STEP (varsity science bowl, research, etc), Robotics Club (FIRST robotics student representative and president of entire club), Science Club (president), Marching Band (Treasurer), E2@MIT (Summer program), CURIE Academy (Summer program) - ugh, really wish there were more spots. -.- I'm missing 3 more EC's
Essays: they were okay... There's one sense in my biographical that makes no sense at all though. Lololololol. Oops.
Income: ~34K

Hi, I was selected as a finalist. But I did not rank colleges. I am applying to Rice University Early Decision though. Do any of you guys know how good the financial aid package is if we didn't rank colleges??

This is actually my first post on here, haha. I'm a finalist! First of all, congratulations to any other finalists. As for people who were not chosen as finalists, just know that you will get in the right college with enough financial aid. Only truly dedicated students even attempt to apply for Questbridge, so any college will be lucky to accept you, so don't give up. I'm not sure if I will actually be matched to any of my choices, but I'm just happy to have been chosen as a finalist.
Okay, I guess I'll put my stats. Ranked 5/229. 4.0 GPA. I'm in the IB program, and I take some AP classes...but I got 3's on all of my AP exams. My SAT and ACT scores weren't that great. 1900 on the SAT, and a 26 on the ACT. No subject tests. However, I worked my butt off on the essays and short answers because I knew that my scores wouldn't be enough. Also, I know that at least one of my teacher's recommendations was superb. I think what helped me were my essays and recommendations. Also, I am in quite a few ECs. I am in a few leadership positions. I started a local volunteer tutoring service, and I also started a program to help immigrants get citizenship. In my school, I also started a peer-counseling club. So those few things there might have also helped me out.

| Close enough to a full ride that you can make up the difference with a part-time job at near minimum wage. Our estimates from 4 colleges in the RD round were pretty consistent at around $5000 out of pocket. That breaks down to: 1) about $2400 for tuition, room and board -- which can be paid for with a work/study job on campus for 10-12 hours a week during the school year; and 2) about $2600 for estimated out-of-pocket costs like travel to/from school, books and misc. costs, which can be earned over the summer. Note that you can save quite a bit from this estimate if you buy your textbooks used from Amazon and shop ahead for the cheapest airfares during breaks. You can also go way over this estimate if you drink a lot of alcohol, go clubbing or decide to fly to Cancun for Spring Break!
