    Decision: Not Matched

    Match to: Bowdoin College

    Objective:
    • SAT I (breakdown): 2050 (730 CR - 570 MT - 750 WR) <- Didn't submit.
    • ACT:
    • SAT II:
    • Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.6
    • Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Top 8%
    • AP (place score in parenthesis): World History (3), US History (3), AP Lang/Comp (5)
    • IB (place score in parenthesis):
    • Senior Year Course Load: AP Statistics, AP Literature, AP Government, AP Economics, PAP Physics, 2 Honors Level Electives
    • Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): QuestBridge Finalist (lol)
    Subjective:
    • Extracurriculars: Literature Club (Founder/President), Business Club (President), Academic Decathlon (President), Theatre Club (Officer), Youth for Christ (President); a lot of other basic ones with officer positions.
    • Job/Work Experience: None
    • Volunteer/Community service: Around 150 hours.
    • Summer Activities: Babysitting.
    • Essays: Decent enough.
    • Teacher Recommendations: One great recommendation, one basic recommendation.
    • Counselor Rec: Who knows?
    Other:
    • State (if domestic applicant): TX
    • School Type: Public
    • Ethnicity: Caucasian
    • Gender: Female
    • Income Bracket: EFC = 0
    • Assets: None
    • Property: None
    • Extenuating Circumstances: Father is old/sick, mother in massive debt
    • Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None come to mind.

Why you think you were not matched and general comments: I had no hope for the match lol. At the time, I had never taken an SAT or ACT, so it was the only school I ranked and my stats are definitely not up to par for Bowdoin.

    EFC = 0
There are many QB finalists with EFC=0 who are accepted by and given full financial aid their freshman year at their first choice school. However, they must apply for FA every year.
I suspect the students who match are assessed by the school as having little to no chance that their EFC will rise above 0 during their expected four years in college.
Look at the school's Common Data Set (usually in Institutional Research) to see stats on recent freshman classes. If the school isn't going to accept you, you have zero chance of matching for a full 4 year package.
