How big should the Why Reed essay be?

The prompt says to be thorough. I wrote nearly a thousand words. Is that too thorough? How many words is your essay?

Am I the only person who loves Reed so much that I have written a thesis on it?

Hey,

I've already applied and been accepted to Reed, so I guess my word might count for something. A thousand words is great-just as long as you're writing why you want to be at Reed and not advertising a thousand reasons why the world thinks Reed is great. I remember my essay being somewhere close to 800 words as well.

Besides, if you end up at Reed, the essay's a good start to prepare yourself for all the insanely long papers you have to write.

PS. Through a little bit of stalking, I've discovered you're from India. I am too. I hope you make it! It'll be nice to see some more Indians on campus next year.

Your Why Reed essay is super important, so yeah, be thorough. Mine was ~500 words, others have been a thousand.

Just write until you feel you've comfortably addressed what you needed to say to them. I don't think you can necessarily be too long or too short, as long as you get your message across in a way that best exemplifies your qualities.
