Research as a non-Century Scholar

How available are research opportunities for underclassmen if you were not selected as a Century Scholar? I'm assuming that the Century Scholars get priority, but hopefully there's some room for the little guys too :-)

There are plenty. All you have to do is look around Rice's website and e-mail a prof or two. Generally they will be willing to have you work with them, but if not, they will almost certainly know someone who would be. A good bet might be to look on the Century Scholars website and contact some of those profs, because they obviously like working with undergrads. Or, if you are taking a class you really like, ask the prof of the class if they know of any research at Rice in the field and how you can get involved in that. You can also randomly e-mail people in the medical center and see if you can get involved in their research (or do shadowing if that's your thing). Good luck!
