I didn't even think we qualified for finaid but when I got accepted ED they sent me a good amount and I got a revised offer yesterday that pretty much covers tuition!
I am personally not happy with mine. If our EFC was an accurate representation of what we could pay, the package would be great, but considering my parents are willing to pay AT MOST 20K and our EFC is 32K, I can't go to Rice
financial aid is a bit silly. they didnt honor my efc at all. im pretty poor though, so it's still nice.
i think i screwed up a question on my fafsa though. anyone get a stafford loan? i want one, i think, but i messed up a question on my fafsa and i think they processed my finaid before i corrected it. >.>
They should be honoring your EFC. If you think that the amount of aid is low due to some accounting error/mistake on a form, I'd call the financial aid office and see if they can adjust it.
so in your experience, how willing is the finaid dept to work with you? it looks like my aid this year is somewhat manageable, but there is probably absolutely no way ill be able to attend rice next year. my dad randomly made a bunch of money this year and spent it all. sooooo my efc will be high, but my parents didn't save anything. does the finaid dept ever guarantee an award for four years or something like that?
No aid whatsoever for our son. Only school to come to that conclusion. Result is that Rice is nearly 14K more expensive than schools that offer only need-based aid, notwithstanding its cheaper sticker price.
We'll appeal and see what happens. Otherwise, Rice was his top choice . . . .
Not at all... the FAFSA told us that our EFC was like ~$5000 and I got absolutely no finaid from Rice :\
My mom is in the process of appealing the package but I don't understand how UChicago gave us $30k, UM gave us $40k and Rice didn't give us anythingggg
