| Yeah, I guess so.....I'm a little disappointed by the lack of on-campus housing, but I guess we're all in the same boat. |

| You never know ... my son is a freshman and he has an on-campus room all lined up for next year, but he just found out his roommate is going to take a semester off, so there will be an open slot there. |

| I paid for the housing deposit as soon as I got accepted, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I want to live on campus so badly! |

| If not, there is quite a bit of housing near campus, and a few big apartments with shuttle service to the med center, right next to campus, or apartments on the lightrail or bus (lightrail and bus are free for Rice students.) I'd suggest linking up with some other transfer students and room together. |

| A relative's dau was just accepted as a transfer student. There are, I believe, several websites for student housing near Rice. It will work out. Congrats! |

| I paid my D's enrollment and housing deposits, and she's hoping for on campus housing too, outofhere. Having said that, we lived in Houston for 20 years in Rice's back yard, and I know there are many apts in close proximity to campus.
However, living off campus as a new student would seem to temper the residential college experience somewhat, it seems to me. It'll all work out, I'm sure. |

| OK, I thought I paid for the enrollment deposit last night, but now when I go back to the site, it's telling me of payment methods, so has it not gone through? Does anyone else have this same problem? |

| Rice is nice for notifying so early, but they're also demanding by asking for a decision within two weeks...I haven't even heard back from any other transfer schools I applied to yet. Has anyone gotten a statement on costs and tuition or knows when it's coming? |

| Myrmidon73---same issue here. I'm guessing that the financial transaction will occur today, and that we should see a different screen other than payment methods either today or tomorrow. |

| Okay I went to Rice and checked today.
About the status page problem: I had the same problem, but they said that my name was on their computer (as one of the applicants who paid their deposit).
Residential Colleges: We need to wait until we are assigned to a college, and then we can request to be wait-listed at that specific college. But the lady there told me that we will be notified in June/July of our college assignments... |

| I also asked about this in an e-mail, and I was told that if we really wanted to, we could switch colleges, if our college was full, and another college had an empty bed. So, if you really want on-campus, there are a few more outs. |

| Like I said, the O-Week coordinators work really hard over the summer to get as many transfers as possible housing. You may not wind up in the college to which you were originally assigned (by putting yourself on the waitlist, you are opening yourself to trading colleges), but the odds are fairly good that you will wind up with a bed on campus. |
