NEWS UPDATE!! Especially for current HS Juniors!

Rice University borke ground last week on a new recreation and fitness center to be completed by August 2009. For all you class of 2009ers (high school), this is just another great reason to apply to Rice. Current workout facilities are in the soon-to-be-completed renovated Autry Court (basketball court), which is already gonna be nice, and now Rice will have this to look forward to!

Also, this isn't related to facilities, but when I was at Owl Days during the welcome presentation they said that beginning with my class, c/o 2012, Rice is incrementally increasing the number of students it accepts, ultimately looking to expand its student body... so I believe that's good news for '09ers, despite equal or more competition than this year in college admissions

Yeah, but in regard to facilities and construction, I believe most of the construction Rice is doing is slated for completion in fall of 2009.

YEAH! I visited in November and the fitness center was one of the only weaknesses i could find.

Does anybody know if the new center is slated to have an indoor diving board?
