| You are guaranteed full need-based financial aid - merit scholarships are not available. |

| however, if you are a national merit finalist, and get off the waitlist before May 21, you still have time to designate Rice and get the amount Rice gives all national merit finalists. ( I think it is 1,000 dollars.) |

| Just FYI: I just heard Rice's director of admissions on an NPR show (called On Point); he said no one is being taken off the waitlist this year.
So sorry. |

| Yes, he said that it looks like Rice may actually be over-enrolled this year, and although they did not admit more kids, the yield looks to be higher. That doesn't mean that they won't admit one or two off the waitlist near the end, if there is a lot of summer melt - but it doesn't look likely... Sorry. |

| It was Chris Munoz on that radio program. It's interesting that Rice ended up with more students than it expected and some of the Ivies ended up with a lot less. I wouldn't assume that there's no hope of getting in off of the waiting list yet, in spite of what Chris Munoz said. I think at the time of that radio program, Harvard and several other schools hadn't reported yet how many students they were going to admit from their waiting lists. I think I read that Harvard is taking 175 this year! Some other Ivies had similar numbers, and that's bound to cause a few students at other schools to jump ship. |

| Ah. Chris Munoz is the Dean of Enrollment, if I'm not mistaken. |
