waitlist status

has anyone heard of rice accepting someone off the waitlist yet?

nope. i hope i do though, even though it's not going to happen. lol
and on the waitlist FAQ, they said that people on the waitlist aren't considered for financial awards.

You are guaranteed full need-based financial aid - merit scholarships are not available.

however, if you are a national merit finalist, and get off the waitlist before May 21, you still have time to designate Rice and get the amount Rice gives all national merit finalists. ( I think it is 1,000 dollars.)

Just FYI: I just heard Rice's director of admissions on an NPR show (called On Point); he said no one is being taken off the waitlist this year.

So sorry.

Yes, he said that it looks like Rice may actually be over-enrolled this year, and although they did not admit more kids, the yield looks to be higher. That doesn't mean that they won't admit one or two off the waitlist near the end, if there is a lot of summer melt - but it doesn't look likely... Sorry.

I think Julie Browning is with financial aid... not sure though, too lazy to google her name right now.

Keith Todd is the director of admission while Julie Browning is the dean for undergraduate enrollment.
