Ivies are OVERRATED... I think it is awesome that Rice is a top 20 school, and it is one of the very few that is less than a 100 years old.

^^^ I doubt undergrad rankings have anything to do with grad schools associated with the school....The reason Rice is "low" in the rankings is the lack of geographic diversity at Rice...If you look at just gpa and sat score averages, Rice tends to be 20-30 points higher than Vandy and Emory(all 3 schools are tied for 17th)....

^ I can appreciate your viewpoint. I do feel, however, that Rice is making a big effort to try and broaden it's geographic diversity. The number of international students it has recruited, for example, has increased. I do get your point though, as Rice does cater to a large population of Texas. I think that grad schools do play some part in rankings. Larger endowment pools, for example, which definitely gets passed on as extra benefits to a school's population. I guess there are so many ways of answering this, it really depends on how one views the issue.

^^ PS. I have a friend who is at Emory right now and is really enjoying the school and Atlanta. I guess we're both lucky to be attending two good, challenging schools.

LOL! Rice has got Yale's Residential System and Quality of Life without the freezing cold weather. Rice should be without a doubt in the top 10 for undergraduate experience.
