More about BSB and other dorms?

I visited Rose back during finals week, so I didn't get a very good feel for life in the dorms. It was pretty dead. My tour guide lived in BSB when he was a freshmen so that's where he took us, and it seemed fine to me. My real questions: which dorms are freshman dorms? which are have ac? what's the basic layout of the floors? which are coed? do they differ in social feel at all? are any of them newer? and if so, are they any nicer? I think that's it. I know every upperclassman is just going to say their dorm is the best, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Thanks.

Freshmen dorms: BSB, Speed, Deming, Mees, Scharpenberg, Blumberg
With A/C: BSB, Mees, (Scharp and Blum too, I think...)
Basic layout: Deming differs from to room, but most rooms are rectangular with two beds, a dresser, two closet armoire things, and two desks with shelves. I haven't had a problem with storage space (and I'm female), but there's generally enough room for some plastic sliding drawers from Walmart/wherever. A number of people decide to build lofts or decks for their beds, but my roommate and I kept the default bunk bed layout and it's worked wonderfully.

BSB, Mees, and Blumberg are coed by floor.

The social dynamic changes from year to year, but the Triplets (Mees, Scharp, and Blum) seem very close. However, BSB3 is also rather close this year.

The triplets are newer, and I definitely like their floor plans, but they're farther away from the academic buildings than I like. I highly prefer living in BSB where I can get to some of my classes in less than two minutes.

I don't see any major faults in any of the dorms, but it's all a matter of personal preference.

Also: Geographical locations

Closest to academic buildings: BSB and Deming. Speed is next to BSB, so the walk isn't terrible.

Closest to cafeteria: Deming, Mees (Scharp and Blum are reasonably close because they're next to Mees, but there's a door to the union right by Mees)

Closest to SRC (gym): Mees, Scharp, Blum

The Triplets (Mees, Sharp, Blum) used to be the upperclass student halls. They house 24 students per floor with 4 bathrooms on each floor. All three have AC. The only building completely devoid of AC is Speed. Deming has AC in the converted attic rooms (larger with 3 students per room).

rhit2014 is right on with her descriptions.

Hi, ya. I'm an incoming freshman to Rose-Hulman. I'm a Chinese guy currently in a SC high school. I'm looking for my roommate. I wonder if it's better to stay with a person of the same ethic or it doesn't really matter in RHIT. Can somebody give me some suggestions as an Chinese student. Thanks~
