I know some people have received their financial aid packages.

I am still waiting to hear back. I applied for financial aid in late January and I am still waiting. Can you tell me how long from the time you applied to the time you received your package?

also, does anyone know when we (students & parents) can call the office of financial aid for an appeal?? i'm happy with the scholarship i got, but the financial aid isn't much (prob b/c it's a state school) and i can't really afford it

What's the point of replying in May. Decisions have to be made by May 1st!
I called the office in NB, the lady was not helpful sorted gave me a indirect answer. She wouldn't even check my profile on their system!

yeah she wasn't very helpful or nice when I called her up about my initial offer. She basically just kinda blew me off and i just was like alright whatever.

i think i may be able to help. What i know is that when you do infact recieve your inital offer, it is just that an initial offer. They then sned you a letter in june giving you a final offer( usually the same as initial) and you select what you want from what was offered and send it back.

Yea, the final offer comes later and it is based on your 2007 Income tax returns. I'm getting a smaller financial aid package as a result.

Today's economy isn't helping. Anyone out there who applied and didn't get ANY financial aid?

One more question--how secure is FAFSA? I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to giving out my social security number.
