School Spirit at St Joes?

My daughter fell in love with St Joes after our visit. However, we got a sense that there was no school pep band (our tour guide did not know). We are just curious how much school spirit there are and what kind of activities are available during the weekends on campus.

I'm glad your visit went so well. I'm surprised you got the impression there is not much school spirit on campus, usually people come away with the opposite impression. We do have a pep band. They are featured at our basketball games which is one of the biggest sources of our school spirit. There is plenty of social opportunities on campus. What I always tell everyone is that the students always have two things going for them. The SJU community and all that goes on on campus, plus we have Philadelphia at our disposal. Its hard to find a dull moment between the two.

There is so much spirit at St. Joe's!!!! We really love going here!! I must say the spirit here is unlike any other school. We really are a family and are proud to be part of the St. Joe's community. Some clubs meet on the weekends, so if you daughter chooses to participate in certain campus activities, it is a possibility that they may meet for a bit on the weekends. Social wise, all your daughter really needs to do is take a quick train ride to center city, where there are a multitude of activities to partake in over the weekend. Otherwise, she can just hang around on campus and enjoy the company of her friends.

Thank you rep & lijan07. I will share that with my D.
Can you refreshen my memory? I remember stopping by the dining area during our visit. Is that also considered the student union/student center? I'm trying to get a feel for where students hang out aside from their dorm if they just want to chill or watch a football game with other students? There seemed to be a small building outside the dining area with pool tables that our tour guide pointed out but we did not get to see it.

There is a new building called "The Perch" which has six to eight smaller flat-screens, and then one movie theater-sized screen.

There are also billiard tables, arcade machines, and frequent concerts/speakers which I find boring, but I mostly just go there to watch football every Sunday.

It's open 24 hours a day.
