2220 should I retake?

Hi,

On my first SAT, taken on December, I scored a 2220. 800 CR, 700 M, and 720 W. Obviously this is a high score, but I was wondering if it would be wise to retake it and improve on my math and writing scores- with my 800 CR, perhaps I could superscore near a 2350-2400. Or I save my time and money, if my score is high enough for my reaches (georgetown, duke)?
How likely are retakers to improve their scores that are in my range?

it is enough

I think your marks are high enough for Duke, though to be honest your math score is just fair.

But I really think that retaking the test is kind of waste. You can study one or two more AP course individually by saving the time.

If u are confident that you can increase your score by at least 80pts then go for it. Otherwise a 2220 is adequate for admission to any us school

I would stop now - why waste any more time or money - these scores should get you into those schools. Spend some time on your favorite EC or community service instead.

My asian bro got into Brown, Cornell, UC Berkeley, UCLA with a 2220.

Just my 2 cents.

I would definitely retake it. Especially because the math is just about being careful.

Edit: I scored a 2260 first time and ended up with a superscore of 2310 after my second sitting with about the same level of preparation for each test.

I got a 2220 my first time and something like a 2240 my second..... I took the act two times in between and did much better on that. I still plan on submitting my sat scores despite this. A 2220 is a fine score for almost any school unless you have a glaring fault in other areas of your app. For top tier schools like Duke and Georgetown (great choices btw) I would focus more on building a well rounded app because unless you get a 2330+ the difference is pretty insignificant

I would retake.

My kid raised his score by 100 points the second time he took the test, without much additional prep work.

Mere familiarity with the exam would help you.

And given that most schools superscore, you have little to lose.

The top schools are so competitive (Brown's acceptance rate, for example, is SEVEN percent), that I think every little bit helps.

Floridadad-what months did he take them in...? does he think there was a difference (an easier test) when he scored 100 points more? My son has a 2160 and debating whether to take the all-feared hard March test or wait?
