| Should I E-Mail Act?
During the ACT today, I came in confident. I made a 30 the first time and I was shooting for at least a 32. Everything went as usual: I bubbled in all my identifiers, l listened to the never ending directions and rules, and I did everything I was told. Then things got difficult due to my proctor.
First: she passed out the writing test booklet instead of the MC one and instructed us to fill in the bubbles/numbers (which of course was wrong), and after someone had courage to point out her mistake, we had to erase everything and start again.
Then... Here's the big part...
Everything seemed fine and we started the first section. I paced myself according to the clock, and over halfway through the questions, I realized my timing was GREAT. I usually finish with 10-15 mins left but I had almost 22 minutes to go (imagine my excitement). I slowed down and re-read some passages on account of all the time left. Then, to my amazement, my proctor got up, took the clock she previously instructed us to use, and moved it up 15 minutes saying "sorry guys, I think this clock is wrong." I had 7 minutes left, and a lot of questions because of my careful re-reading and slow pace (because I thought I had so much time). As you can probably imagine, this completely threw me off my game and I was out of tune for the rest of my test.
Similarly, after she fixed the clock, she still nonchalantly said (on the next section) the clock was "probably broken" because it was saying we had more time than we did. Once again I had to speed up (very hard for math) and for the rest of the test I basically had no clock (I stopped looking at the broken one)
Shouldn't she have checked this BEFORE the test started? Also, I know every test room isn't required to have a clock, but had she just no had a clock at all I would have 1) adjusted mentally before the test began or 2) called someone to quickly bring me one.
I know my score is going to be lower than my 30 from February because the clock thing completely threw me off. I wasnt "in the zone" anymore.
Should I email ACT? I feel like I wasted time and money.
