Can I Learn Biology Through SAT Subject Prep Book?

Hey, I plan on applying to college as a pre-med student, so of course I would like to take the Biology Subject Test. However, I did not take biology this year (my counselor messed up my schedule). So, unfortunately I will not be able to take a full year of AP Bio before I apply to college. Therefore, I was wondering is it possible to get a good (650+) grade on the AP Bio Subject Test by mainly studying a Biology Subject Test Prep book?

Also, which brand do you think is best in order to study for the Biology Subject Tests?

Just anecdotal evidence, but I have a friend who self-studied her way into getting a 780 on the SAT II Biology test her Junior year. To be fair though, she was taking Honors Physiology and Anatomy her Junior year, which is sort of Biology-ish.

I would suggest studying out of an AP Biology review book, because they have more information.

How is Sparknotes for the SAT biology subject test? Or is there a more comprehensive source?

You won't learn bio proper, but you'll have an overview of the concepts and an idea how the test works, so if you have a sharp mind you'll be able to pick up what you need.

I'm a big fan of all Barron's subject test books.

You can, and you can probably do well on the test. But will you retain anything even a month after the test? Doubtful. Basically, you may get in to a good college, but you probably won't be prepared for premed bio, unless you have a truly amazing memory.
