If I retake ACT Writing and get a lower score but a higher composite do I ....?

I am planning on retaking the ACT, but I want to know if I get a higher composite but lower writing will they take the lower writing score, or the higher one from a test my composite was lower?

Really need to know in order to register for the test!
Thanks!

Your writing score is attached to your composite, there is no combining separate scores.

For example: If you have two scores, say a 35 composite and a 12 essay, and a 36 Composite and a 11 essay, you cannot create a 36 and 12 essay single score.

Now, what you would do in this situation is just take the higher composite.

Actually some schools super score the ACT and the SAT. That means they take the highest sub score from each section and put them together for a super composite score. Some use this for merit scholarships, some for admittance, some not at all. There are old threads about this. You can ask your admissions counselor if they super score. You can google and find information too.
