ACT English

Hello, I'm a new user and I've seen some good tips around here. So, I am asking for some help in improving my ACT English section score.
My highest composite score thusfar for the ACT has been a 30 with subscores of: Reading-36, Math-28, English-27, Science-27. I know I can improve my math, I made really silly mistakes when I looked over the optional test + answer key, and my answers. And science is really just an odd sort of reading comprehension. And I've received a 36 on the reading section the 2 times Ive taken the ACT, so I feel set on that. Therefore, I would really like to improve my English.

I am aiming for a composite of 32, but obviously the higher the better. I feel as a white male, with good grades and activities, etc. a 32 should be solid for getting into a decent college, not necessarily Top 25 caliber, but good enough. I also am a rising senior, so I can only take the ACT just about one more time (NO PRESSURE!, haha).

Anyway, I've never really had grammar classes or anything of the sort, so my grammar is pretty shotty. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone has any tips for improvement. I am willing to do most anything, Im extremely motivated to improve. I feel like if I started from the basics, in terms of grammar rules, and worked my way up I could get into a higher score range, but I don't know where to start.

All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Take some time and just write. Write WELL, too; don't be embarrassed to use some kind of grammar textbook from the library. Then evaluate your writing on the basis of the sense it makes, but more importantly on its grammatical correctness.
