Hey guys, I'm consistently scoring a 660 or a little lower on the SAT W. I have practiced a lot, looked halfway through Silverturtle's guide and is starting to read seven deadly screw ups by Sparknotes. I am just mising like 2/3 question from getting that 700. How can I do this? I have been working on SAT W for like 7 or 8 hours a day..... My score is not going up :/
it is definitely feasible
case in point- as a sophomore I was an extremely lazy underachiever and I only scored a 58 on the PSAT writing.
After about 50 hours of preparation I ended up scoring an 800 on SAT Writing
and a 36 on the ACT English
In order to make the most efficient use of your time study writing conventions and absolutely memorize every grammatical rule ever tested for on the SAT writing. This can be done by reading every explanation on the official SAT practice book for every writing question and not just the ones you got wrong. Generalize based on those rules and write down a list if you have memory problems. This can be done in about five hours. Then take like 6 practice tests and review as necessary.
I would say the SAT Writing test is the easiest to coach
the SAT Math is a close second
SAT CR is much harder to coach because even if you memorize all the vocab words the variety of reading material can challenge someone with ADHD (like me)
are you reviewing all of your answers and finding out why they are correct/incorrect? If you're not, then you should, even for the ones that you got right the first time.
im not worried about the sat. just about the psat section. i keep scoring in high 600's never making the 700 mark. Though, I am getting better, its just that i second guess myself.
Actually, it is very easy to get 700+ on writing. Just buy a regular SAT writing book and work through it; I got a 760 from the 600's within a day of studying. It isn't very difficult. With a few exceptions such as plural subject-verb agreement, try to use your ear more often in conjunction with memorized rules.
