Every day or two I will post up a few words that I have come across while studying in my SAT prep course and from individual studying. Enjoy

1)Apogee (n)- the highest point in the development of something
2)Abhor (adj)- to detest or hate
3)Abhorrent (adj)- repugnant, hateful
4)Apex (n)- the highest point/part of something
5)Apropos (adj)- suitable or very appropriate
6)Animus (n)- a) hostility or ill feeling b) motivation to do something
7)Bemuse (adj)- to confuse or bewilder
8)Benign (adj)- Harmless; not harmful
9)Castigate (v)- to reprimand or criticize severely
10)Charlatan (n) - a fake; fraud; pretending to have a skill that one does not have
11)Coax (v)- use flattery to persuade someone; wheedle [synonym] ; cajole [synonym]
12)Concur (v)- a) to agree with b) to happen at the same time
13)Cozen (v)- to trick or deceive
14)Dally (v)- to act or move slowly
15)Dauntless (adj)- without fear, courageous, intrepid [synonym]
16)Culpable (adj)- deserving blame
17)Dearth (n)- a scarcity or lack of something
18)Deft (adj)- demonstrating skill or cleverness
19)Dire (adj)- extremely serious or urgent

Are you sure abhor is an adjective? I tried to put it in a sentence and it just sounded awkward.
