Writing sec

Q 28) With its 13,000 islands displayed [like jewels] on a necklace [suspending] between Asia and Australia, the Republic of Indonesia [remains] one of the most beautiful and [diverse] nations on Earth.

THe incorrect one is [suspending]. I odn't understnad hte meaning of this sentence and I don't get why it has to be "suspended" instead.

Cross out the non-essential clause (displayed like jewels on a necklace) and read the sentence without it. With its 13,000 islands...suspending between Asia and Australia. That does not even sound correct. Change the gerund to the past participle form to correct the sentence.
