Taking PSAT as a freshman

Is there any disadvantage to taking the PSAT more than once? If trying to go for NMS when he is a junior?

I don't see any disadvantage, but wouldn't you take it as a sophomore and then again as a junior, not a freshman?

No. There are only advantages.

Take it if you can.

My school allows freshman, sophmore and Junior to take the PSAT>

No if you are charged money.

Go to the GCs office and pick up the PSAT student guide for this year. It has a practice test that you can give yourself. This wont cost you a dime and you will get the results as soon as you score it.

Generally speaking it doesnt make a lot of sense to focus on PSAt/SAT/ACT before Jr year unless you plan to graduate early. Students who are older and have completed their Math and English sequence do best.

You can if you want to. I did it and this year will be the third time taking it. Even if you don't do well, it will show you how much you actually have to study.

It won't hurt to take it, but it really won't help much to take it two years prior to when it counts. Don't worry about it yet; it is not worth putting that much pressure on yourself this early. Enjoy your freshman year - make friends, participate in activities, and try to do well in your classes.
