Hi, I'm a senior, and I NEVER took the SAT before.... I know I know $#%$％＃＠＾＄％％＃, anyway, I used to go to summer school for SAT prep, and my practice exams were always between 1400-1500. I usually got like a 700+ for math, and 400 for writing, and 350 for reading. I know my reading is **** bad because I'm not a native English learner, although the main reason is because I'm too lazy. I'm taking the SAT in this Saturday, and I think I will be end up around 1400-1500 maybe even low. I will put all my affords in this 2 months to improve my score to 1800. My plan was to study 200 vocabs on weekdays and 500 during the weekend. I will try to build up 8000 words in less than 3 weeks, and also try to understand/memorize most concepts and common questions. I will use the rest of 5 and half weeks to punish the crap outta of myself by practicing 10 hrs a day. Do you guys think I have a chance to get 1750-1800 after these punishments?

200 vocab words, and 500 on the weekend is extremely hard to memorize, even for native speakers like me.

I suggest memorizing the common Greek/Latin roots, this provides a decent payoff with the least amount of study. For example, the word "euphonious" can be broken down into roots "eu" (meaning "good") and "phon" (sound). So without even knowing what the word means, you can pretty much guess that "euphonious" means, "good-sounding." Later on you can memorize other words that don't have obvious roots.

IMO writing's the easiest to improve. If you know the few grammar rules tested on the SAT (and know them well) you can pretty much notch a perfect score on grammar.

Also, do you really have 10 hours a day to devote to SAT preparation? That seems like a killer to me...

It's very, very difficult to improve your reading level that much in 2 months. You are already doing great in Math, so there isn't much to improve there...

I would suggest focusing on improving your writing score.

However, colleges are not going to like that reading score of 350...that's atrocious, sorry. You need to pull it up to a 500 or so, at the very least. Improving your reading score 150 points is definitely possible if you put in a lot of work.

Thanks for replying, and your suggestions. Honestly, 200 vocab words and 500 on the weekend really isn't that hard if one tries his best. I started this method 2,3 days ago, it took me almost 3 hrs to remember 200 of them by heart; however, I do know a friend of mine who memorized exactly 2300 vocabs IN 3-4 DAYS (by heart).
