SAT Score for NMS

I'm preparing to take the PSAT on Wednesday, but I was wondering what score I will need to get on the SAT if I qualify for the NMS. My last two practice test scores were 2120 and 2100, respectively. I live in OH.

If you qualify for NM Semifinalist, the SAT score required to "confirm" your PSAT score and help you advance to NM Finalist can change slightly year to year, but as long as it is over 2000, you're OK (sometimes the cutoff is slightly under 2000). Many students mistakenly believe that they need to "match" their PSAT score. Not true. 2000+ is all you need--in ANY state. Good luck on the PSAT!

Thanks!

Wow, that's a relief! I did think I'd have to match my PSAT score. Thanks for telling me - I know I can make it now!

The required SAT score is usually around 1960, and it is the same score in every state. There is a deadline for submitting your score, but you can take the SAT as many times as you need to to get the score you need. I have never heard of anyone failing to advance to finalist due to the SAT score.
