I'm taking my first SAT as a junior on March 2013. I have around a 1600 now, it is most certainly viable. I am planning to give it my all, I really am. I have 5 months for preparation give or take. ANY strategies, things I should be awared about, and suggestions are welcome and would be greatly appreciated. oh and for anything that doesn't like to reply through public, you can private message me anytime. Don't give up, its certainly viable. I suggest getting Barrons SAT prep books, which over prepare you, and do all the practice tests, then get the blue book and practice with that too. You could probably pull it off with a bit of work.

Thing is, my critical reading section stinks. It is my first time, but if I score high for the first time, it'll be easier for the 2nd time, perhaps 3rd if i'm planning to re-take a 3rd time. Feel me? Oh and i heard march is the hardest SAT.. Is it true?><
It's already of an increase of 600 points. I need fast strategies to learn as many voc words as i can. I am using wordmaster, barrons high frequency list, making flashcards and all ..I hope i can do it!!

yeah u can do it, but the first step is to work your ass off. go pick up a book and gl gloria! sat is basically just practice practice and more practice

I definitely think this is possible if you are in fact already a pretty smart kid, and you put in the time and effort. I went from a 171 on last years PSAT to a current score of 2200. Granted, I went through a very intensive 6 week prep course, but I think with dedication and effective study methods this goal is certainly attainable with the amount of time you have.

yeah, it possible, im taking the sat in nov. i went from a 1600 in june to a 2100 in sept. i am hoping to rise another 50-100 by nov.

Well, it takes dedication and committment to accomplish anything in life. Even within such a short period of time, you still cracked a 2000, which is amazing. Those 6 weeks must have really paid off! ;-)

I'll work my butt off, knowing it will reflect at the end, like you!!:-) those 6 weeks werent probably bad if you think ahout it. It was all worth it! :-)

Honestly, I don't think so. Im not implying that the SAT determines innate intelligence, but most kids I know who score in the 99th percentile (2200+) including myself, scored 150-200 on the PSAT in like 7th grade. Basically, unless you undergo some rapid maturation and brain development, you really aren't going to be able to determine the answers with certainty to the level 4 and 5 questions.
---> This doesn't mean you shouldn't still go for it; I'm sure you can increase your score if you try, just not as much as you want. Prove me wrong though!

i went from 1490 to 2000 in 6 months ... Easiest improve = writing section. If you are good at math, you can easily improve SAT Math by taking several practice

Very much possible. Just remember when you're studying that you'll only have to do this once in your life. Good luck.
