I took the October SAT, and it was my first SAT or ACT test. I got a score high enough on the SAT to where I doubt I will take it again. Should I still take the ACT, or is it unnecessary? I'm not sure as to whether I should take both for colleges to see, or just having the SAT is fine. Thanks!

If you're satisfied with your SAT score, then you don't necessarily need to take the ACT - it's just nice to see where you land and to "have" it though.

Some colleges require applicants to submit the SAT plus two subject tests OR the ACT. Some colleges consider SAT scores in awarding merit aid.

The answer to your question therefore depends on the potential colleges on your list.

really it all depends on what colleges your looking at. If you got high SAT scores then there its really no point since most colleges only require SAT or ACT scores.
And you'll save money in the long run.

Hmm. I've taken two SAT subjects tests and got high scores on both (although I want to take a couple more, Physics and Chemistry. I've taken Math II and Biology M. I can raise my Science SAT II by a little by taking those two.)

As for schools I'm looking at, there is MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and other big math/science schools. If taking the test is unnecessary, then I don't think paying for it and taking it would be worth it. I might take it though, because it is "nice to have." I'm still debating as to whether I should, which is the reason for the thread in the first place.
