Writing required for juniors who took the current SAT I?

Is the Writing test required for those who took the current ("old") SAT I? Or can we mix and match highest scores from the new SAT? Two more days to register for the January test date, and I don't want my 1580 to go to waste.

mm, I'd take the Writing test in Jan (if you don't want to take the new SAT). I think I've read on some colleges' websites that they'll require the old SAT + SAT II Writing or the new SAT, so if you think you can do well on the Writing, take it in case.
