yes, you receive in april letting you know that you are one of the top 50,000 high scorers, but they don't let you know whether you made semi finalist or not until september

I'm hoping my 206 (98th percentile), makes me a semifinalist. According to my calculations, the top 1.86% of scorers will become semifinalists, placing me right on the edge. It just depends on whether my 98% was rounded down or up.

My son received his letter today from the school counselor. His score was 216 in Georgia.

i got the same score as you gelatin. what state do you live in? each state has a cut off for semifinalist, my state's is like 224 so im not even close for my state

I got a 220 (in MA so I highly doubt I will qualify for NMSF, just one stupid math mistake...) and I haven't gotten a letter yet and I should be Commended...

Woo hoo on the 200 making it! DS has 201 and no hope of semi (esp. in CA), but I was hoping he'd make the commended cut.

^^^ Yes, only the semi finalist cut offs are by state.

my D is a 209 in cal as well...tough state!!! but I am proud of her non the less

it is amazing our school sends kids to some amazing schools but only has about 10 commended and 2 semi a year (of 350 juniors)

so both my kids being commened stood out

they down play the PSAT-

It looks like letters are starting to trickle in. Congrats to all who have heard. D's school gets the info first then mails it to us, so it looks like next week before she hears anything. PSAT was 224, state:TN
