| wait dont some of the 50,000 "high scorers" who receive the letter NOT get commended. i.e. not all letter-receivers are selected for semi-finalist or commended? |

| Letters came today in Ohio
And yes, everyone who receives a letter is either commended or semifinalist. The commendend is a national score, while semifinalist cutoffs vary from state to state. We won't know until August/Sept if we are commended or semi. |

| No letter today but my guidance counselor told me I made it (the school got notice first). She said THE CUTOFF SCORE WAS 200 FOR THIS YEAR. Thats directly from my guidance counselor from the National Merit people. |

| Haven't heard anything yet. I was the top scorer at my school with a 213 (Wisconsin), so my hopes are high.

| I just got mine today; the counselor was handing them out. So if your school district is maddeningly slow, like mine was distributing the original school reports, it may be a while. :P |
