so racerboi, I totally understand your math if the question really asks about it being multiplied by three, then the interpretation of any ONE language as picking either German or Italian (2 of the three numbers must be equal) will give you 6. However, I thought that it said that there were three MORE german speakers than italian speakers total. So that would be adding three instead, and if you set up a system of three equations and solve than the picking ONE language (german or italian) to be equal to the number of speakers of both give you 9 instead. Do you think it was adding three or multiplying by three?

I had two math sections with the grid-in questions... do you guys know which one is the one that counts... the first or the second?????
the first one had the questions about the 4000<3000+x<4500
and the second had the questions about the 90x+23y=4523.

Sorry max, it was
the number of students who study both languages is equal to the number of students who study one.

What was killing me that it did not say "the total number of students who study one".

6 students study Italian language only, 6+3=9 - German only,
6+9=15 students study one language (but not the same!).
15 students study both.
Total 15+15=30.

It's a terribly worded question.

i believe 90x+23y=4523. and the 4000<3000+x<4500 are in the same section, i think so, because they're both grid-in, and i only had 1 grid in.

ok, you're all scaring me here, what i interpret, i might be wrong, was that 4000< 3500+x< 4500
the question is WHAT IS ONE POSSIBLE VALUE OF X, or was it THE LEAST POSSIBLE VALUE OF X?
omg, im freaking out, i think i only read the word POSSIBLE,and i put 1111, since its possible, but not least, someone plealse tell me it's ONE POSSIBLE..

here's some questions that i remember, correct me if im wrong.
yes , the language of germ and italy was 6( well i was stuck, but i worked backwards, hahah, lucky me)
one of the completion was parochial.
i got 9/4pi for the circle, i took out the smaller circle, and the shaded region was kinda like the average of the 2, one bigger ,and one smaller. so i got 9/4pi
my essay, i believe u guys don't have, was "the past has influenced the present", and agree or dis, well im from guam. so u guys probably had a diff one .

Ive had the same essay =)
51 for x+y is right.

It asked for the LEAST possible value for the integer X, so 1001
