| Does it look really bad if my scores go down significantly on a second sitting SAT? I got like 4 wrong on math that I can think of on yesterday's test (don't know how that happened) and had a 770 last time. My critical reading will probably go down because I had an 800 last time and I don't know about writing...
Will colleges care when they see like a 700 math compared to the previous score? Especially if my composite goes from mid 2250+ to somewhere closer to 2000...
I know most schools superscore, but they see both sets of scores...

| most schools superscore.
i also have a sneaking suspicion that curves are going dramatically down b/c of the amount of people taking the exam....i ordered q & a for oct, then saw my results for march:
CR: Oct: 2 wrong, 800, March: 2 wrong, 730
W: Oct: 76/8: 680, March: 71/10: 680
M: Oct: 5 wrong, 690, March: 10 wrong: 640 |

| If you're positive that your scores are going to be worse than what you got during the previous sitting, just cancel them. You will not get your money back but the scores will never be reported to you or to colleges. SAT Canceling Scores |

| Yeah, I was thinking about canceling but the whole reason I decided to retake was to improve my writing which may well be better than March. I'm not sure what to do... |

| scores going down on second sitting This happened to my daughter (March vs. October).
Her CR went down 90 points and her math 20. Her writing score went up 50 to a perfect 800.
I was really worried about the drop. However, I feel pretty certain that all the schools she applied to superscored.
She was accepted at Vassar, Barnard, Macalester, Kenyon, Grinnel, BU and Skidmore.
I don't know how the Ivies deal with this issue.
Good luck and don't lose sleep over it like I did. |

btw, Which school is your first choice?
Again, I really wouldn't worry, especially since your first time scores terrific. My daughter's scores weren't as strong as yours!
My daughter is going to Macalester. |

Congratulations to your daughter on getting into so many great schools! I hope she loves Macalester...

Of course, test scores are just one piece of what they'll look at, but I think
you will be just fine for Barnard with your scores. (yes, even with a possible drop).
Good luck with Barnard. My daughter almost applied ED there, but then decided she wanted to be in the midwest. |
