What is the best example of a sublime environment?

I don't think the answer can be a vast ocean, its not intimidating.
Maybe a mountain cut by wind.

its the vast ocean dude. it's very intimidating because a single man feels inferior by it and it's widely unknown.

vast ocean because it had to be something that appeared infinitely large. a mountain and oasis are both things people can percieve as having a definite size.

i was thinking the middle of the atlantic ocean would be anything but "calm water." i suddenly had a vision with fierce waters shown in "deadliest catch" with the really almost "black" water at night and endless capacity to swallow anything (including a mere human being)... so i just put vast ocean, but i suck at reading so dont kill me.
