| Everyone on this thread is saying that a 2080 is "great" or "excellent"? I wouldn't go THAT far. |

| the average population scores around 1530 if I remember correctly....
the average CC population scores like a 2250...
don't believe what they same about averages...it all matters about the school and if you are on target for your match school, then nice job! |

| "well I think for one student whose first language is English, especially American, 2080 is not high enough. Spending 16 years in English speaking country should give you higher result then."
but that doesn't necessarily mean you're perfect in math
and plus, according to that argument.... everyone should be getting above 2080... which would make SATs utterly pointless because of.. inflation, i guess you could say? although i wouldn't mind that at all |

| I wish I got a 2080, and I applied to Brown.
Granted, everything else I had was pretty much up to par, and I did better on the ACT.
So don't look at your SAT score as your be all end all. |

| SAT scores are not everything. I will say though that 2200+ is probably necessary for merit aid. |

| It's absolutely not about SAT scores. Is your GPA strong? A higher score might help a weak GPA, but your score definitely won't hurt for those top LACs. |

| It won't detract from your chances at any college. It won't add anything either. Theyll just look for other compelling stuff in other parts of your application. So if you can raise it, great, but if you can't, there's a million other things you can do. |

| i say anything over a 2000+ is fine for all but the "best of the best" universities (HYPSM), and even then a lot of kids get accepted with lower scores. |

| 2080 is a very good score, especially if you did very well on some section. i got a 2150 but i just got low 700 in all of my sections which doesn't look too good at all. english is my second language, but one who has english as his/her first langauge shouldn't be blamed for having a 2080. that's ridiculous.
just crossing fingers for may SAT scores...blehh. |
