One good link was shared above. This link

http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_dow...tile_ranks.pdf

provides more detail, and shows that a score of 2080 put people at the 96th percentile of members of class of 2007 who took the SAT. That's pretty good.

2080 is good man, just not on CC's standards, I got a 2060, it was the highest in my school and i got into Cornell, so I think that puts things in perspecitve.

2200+ is not necessary for all merit aid.

I only did slightly better than you, and I was offered a full ride (tuition + room and board) at Brandeis. I'll be attending Princeton this fall. It's NOT all about your SAT score.

If you can, you should try to improve your score. It does play a pretty significant role in admissions, and higher scores do increase your chances of getting into a better college. However, I wouldn't obsess about this.

Colleges nowadays are much more interested in your whole 'package'
GPA, ECs, essays, letters of rec, interviews, etc

Don't lose sight of your entire package when you are stressing about your SAT scores. It's only a PART of your package. Remember to give some TLC to the rest, especially essays IMO.
