The title of the post suggests that you are really asking how deeply screwed are you. Well, in to answer that I will point out that when an important college advisor was asked what happens to kids who have been caught taking drugs in high school her answer was something to this affect.
Kids in high school try drugs, colleges know that and don't take that too seriously unless they are hard drugs or are selling them. What really concerns colleges is character-such as violent behavior (bringing weapons to school, etc) and cheating, those are unexcusable.
Ooooooooops!

If the OP is a real student with a real problem:

What does your HS Guidance Counsellor think is going to happen?

don't worry. i was in this situation.
but i didn't cheat.

During the first 5 minute break between sections 3 and 4, I took my ipod out and listened to it in the hallways. Suddenly this lady passes me up and starts yelling about how it's illegal to have an electronic device. I was REALLY scared. They reported me to the principal and he took my ipod. They sent me back to my room to complete the SAT. Once the SAT was over, I went to the principal and asked if my scores would be canceled. He only said that he will report it. So I waited 2 weeks to see if they canceled the score. Luckily, they didn't cancel my score, and CB sent me an email explaining the situation. They pardoned me of my "mishap."

:]

but i can't say the same happy ending will happen to you.
good luck :]

hmm....tough call but what is most likely going to happen is your scores being canceled. As for collegeboard reporting to all of the colleges that you tried to cheat, nah that's farfetched. But nevertheless man, cheating on the SAT and getting caught is too big of a risk so be careful next time.

We're supposed to copy that statement in the back of our answer sheets but not "in print." Whatever that means. I just copied mine it in my normal non-cursive handwriting. =/

CB will most likely have it on your file that you cheated, so you can't get out of even if you do take the ACT. You are royally screwed, and I hope cheaters like you don't get into any colleges.

i really wish it wasn't true dude08 but it did happen to me. thecalccobra's comment really cheers me up. i guess i was looking for sympathy. i do think that Puddly has all the rights to say things like that to me because i did what was wrong. i'm just waiting til i register for my October exam to see if CB banned me from the SAT. i did hear cases where the CB banned a student. i had a dream about this too... jsut hoping that CB will give me another chance. if they don't i don't blame them because if they excuse one they would have to excuse thousands and they don't have much time to figure out one student's future anyway

I guess it's better to learn your lessor here than in the real world...it could be worse, even though this is bad, it is not the end of your life.

Look in to some schools that place a very low emphasis on SAT scores. I hope your making this up... Cheating is bad enough, but cheating to avoid an experimental section? That's plain stupid because saving yourself from 25 minutes of mental strain will not boost your grade much. And cell phones... Goddamn dude, its easy to click the off button...
