Can i say that I'm a NMSF without having sent the college that score report thingy?

And which schools would give me money and how much for being a NMSF and perhaps NMF...cuz i won't get FA from most schools...

Yeah I'm facing somewhat of the same dilemma (i guess its a dilemma ha). Not sure whether I should send them to colleges that I have fairly good chance of getting accepted to in order to solidify my chances and possibly get some money, or submit them to reach schools in order to help my chances (which it probably won't much but it definitely can't hurt). Basically I want to know how to get the most value out the referrals. I don't want to waste them on a highly selective school that won't care much.

Ivies won't care but you can put it on your application. Send the notification to a school that will value it.

I do not see much value in the two referrals at this point. Those highly selective universities will not care. For those that care they will find out from the College Board who are the high PSAT scorers and will send you tons of material. However, you shall definitely indicate in your actual applications your National Merit status.

I would imagine all of the schools you listed would definitely view it as a plus. The fact that you got this status means that you were within the top 3% of juniors that took the PSAT, which looks impressive no matter which way you swing it. Schools like Rutgers and UWisconsin would probably be very impressed, and definitely "flag" you as someone they may give offers to. I think big schools that admit more on the basis of stats would consider it more than any others. Ivies probably wouldn't care. That's just my opinion, I really have no idea.

I think the biggest plus, not matter which schools you send them to, is that you are demonstrating early on that you are very interested in that school. Any college will take that into consideration. Personally, I think I am going to send one to a match and one to a reach.

Well it depends on whether or not you are looking for financial offers. I'm sure UMich would take it into consideration in terms of admissions because it demonstrates your early interest in their school and shows that you are within the brightest students in the nation, but in terms of getting money I don't know if it is going to say much. It all depends, but if you are serious about possibly attending there I'm sure its a good place to send it. Again, thats just my opinion , but it's the same reasoning that I'm basing my decisions on.
