modernchem, take them again! i took them in january and got a 660 writing score, and in june got a 780 -- not a lick of studying!!! just the mere practice and exposure to problems, plus the essay question, has lots of potential for improvement.

math: 680 (i went down!)
cr: 710
writing: 780

(2170)

Math: 720 (up from 630!)
CR: 650 (... from 640)
W: 670 (... from 680)

1370/2040

I think I want to retake to improve my CR and Writing scores. I'm happy with math, but if I studied more I could probably improve that as well. I'll be applying to colleges in the fall.

I got a 33 ACT composite, but I live on and am planning on applying to schools on the east coast, which is more SAT oriented with the vast majority of people submitting the SAT.

HEARTBREAK!

Due to doing okay in all regular (unweighted) classes, Son's friend managed to be in the bottom quarter of the class. He was accepted to a very selective music program on the condition that he raise his SAT score. He took the SAT on the morning of graduation in a last ditich effort to meet the required SAT score. He missed it by one question. So...all these other potential music majors from our HS made it into the school but not the music program; he was talented enough to make it into the music program but not the university!

Hi guys...I can't believe how many responses there already are...did anyone else check this morning ASAP....I woke up at 7:59 and checked at exactly 8:00...hahaha

So my composite was 2170, which I'm happy with, but could be better---but my individual subjcets were all good:
CR:740
W:720
M:710

and I got a 32 composite on the ACT....I can't decide whether to take the SAT's again or not, becuase my subject test scores were very bad, so I need to retake them...but then I still have a few other test dates.
And I want to go to STanford, and my GPA is high....should I retake the SAT?

Your scores are great but for Stanford, it could never hurt to improve. Definitely work on the ACT if your subject tests were bad, though! That should be a top priority.

The ACT should be? Cuz 32 is 99th percentile, so I was thinking I wouldn't take it again...and on the SAT I'm just worried if I take it again my scores may go down, especially in math becuase this is unusually high for me in math (because I forget all of the geometry and algebra since I took it so long ago)

Same with me. Omg, CR... I improved by 40 points but still CR is the test that ruins my whole score.
Math - 690 ARGH, can't even get 700
Writing -590 Aigo.. I thought I did better than that
CR - 490 X___X

I bet you can improve upon those though dimpleyy, I'd say if you've taken it twice do a lot of studying and then take it just one more time...so yah I'd retake it if I were you.....

I just can't decide whether I should retake it or not.

CR- 800, M- 770, W- 720
= ecstatic!
One question though: Is it true that most colleges don't pay much attention to the W score, or does it really depend?

Wow, congrats jrobbfed! And it really depends on the college, but even if the colleges you're interested in do look at the writing score a 720 is still great!

I think when you get the essays it depends on where you took our test, cuz I didn't do anything special it just shows my score write under the writing section.
