Do colleges accept BOTH the SAT and the ACT?

TJ123TJ123 Posts: 52Registered User Junior Member
I took both the SAT and the ACT and am happy with both scores and would like to send both. Will colleges acecpt both or do I have to pick one or the other. Also, for colleges that request the ACT with writing, if I already have the SAT and I'm sending that as well, do I have to do the writing on the ACT? Thank you.

Most colleges now will accept either the ACT or the SAT, so you can send either one or both. However, many colleges that accept the ACT will want the ACT with writing, so you will have to do the writing portion of the act.

My daughter took the SAT and the ACT without writing. All scores were very good. Her SAT writing score was so high she didn't bother doing writing for ACT. Can she still submit all scores; SAT and ACT Without writing just to show more information?

She is welcome to do that, but it isn't assured that the colleges will even care about the ACT. Just do it if you want, but it may end up being a waste of money.

Your best bet is to simply call the admissions offices of the schools you're thinking of applying to and ask them. They are usually very helpful.

Is this true? I have a really good ACT score, and my SAT I is almost really good (I did really badly on Writing, but brought it up in my ACT). Should I submit both, or just my ACT? Will they be "suspicious" (gosh, even I want to laugh at myself for using that word) if I just submit my ACT score?

Why all the bias against the ACT? Colleges accept it as much as they accept the SAT. Send in one or both, it doesn't matter. If you did poorly on the SAT, then just send the ACT.

I submitted both SAT and ACT+Writing because I didn't want to take SAT II's so I took ACT instead.

    I liked ACT waaay more.
