How does SAT Subject Test measure up?

First of all Merry Christmas.

How does SAT Subject Test measure up? I mean isn't SAT Subject more related to what we're learning at school? But a lot of colleges only recommend you to take at least two subject tests.

Let's say an applicant has great GPA, ECs, wrote stellar essays and etc. He has very low SAT let's say i don't know 1600 out of 2400? But his scores from his SAT subject tests are pretty high. let's just say in the high 700s range while one even topped off a 800. (he took three)

How would colleges view this?
HAHA thanks guys!

I think this guy is you?
SAT are responsible for measuring your "reasoning" abilities.
SAT II are responsible for measuring your academic abilities.

If you have stellar grades, then you should have the high SAT II scores to prove it.

Colleges will think that you are book smart, but have no sense of reasoning (I kid, I kid).
But in all seriousness, SAT II scores are pretty important. :]

SAT II - thinking inside the box
SAT I - thinking outside the box

They will assume that your GPA is inflated, and that your mental capacity may not be up to par with their typical student. You should really try to do well in both.

SAT I isn't thinking outside the box, it's thinking inside a very small box with a timer going and random annoyances all around.

That's interesting. Is it 9?

I must admit you have to think differently to get that, but I never encountered a question like that in 2 SAT's and 3 PSAT's.

The answer is 9, yes.

I agree with you; the tests lately haven't had questions of this caliber. Do note, though, this came from a test where -1 = 800
