SAT Prep Courses

Does anyone know if Princeton Review or Kaplan offers better/more in-depth review courses for the SAT? Or if there are any other programs that offer good review?

There are more classes for the Princeton Review than Kaplan for the same price but I do not know which one has higher quality teachers and/or methods.

i went to kaplan and went up 200 points...i love them and i think they did a great job...great course and very helpful as long as u do all the work and take it seriously...and hey...if u take it even more seriously then me, u may do better (i was studying the female situation in the class more then the SAT) LOL

I did Kaplan...my teacher, i guess, was bad...my score only improved 90 points...eh...and i think i was the only one who actually did all his homework, but maybe i just cant take standardized tests...

I heard that a private tutor was the best, but I dont know for shure, does anyone know?

prep courses only work if u want to improve at a lower score range (say 1200-1350 on the old sat). however, if you already were scoring a 1400, they will not help you.

Please do not get a private tutor for the SAT...

In my opinion (and I know some will disagree) reading a book (or books) is perfectly normal, taking a class is borderline but still acceptable, but hiring a private tutor to TEACH you the SAT is just ridiculous.

well if you are motivated enough study yourself. But I found out that I lacked motivation and needed to go to a SAT prep. Not PR or Kap. YOu know like educational center.

my sister had a private tutor, and in my opinion its really not as drastic as TEACHING you the SAT. mostly, its just the tutor assigns homeowkr and goes over the answers with you. my sister didnt need to be taught anything and the tutor really helped her bring her score up bc she kept my sister motivated to actually sit down and do the practice tests at their sessions and went over answers she missed. bascially, its everything u get in an sat prep book, but the fact that theres a PERSON saying these things to you, keeping you organized, and making sure you stay on task helps. So i dont really agree with people being disgusted with tutors, i think its a good way to push a student who lacks the self motivation to prepare.

I certainly agree.

If you lack the motivation, an SAT prep class or even a private tutor is wonderful. However, if you can sit down and study on your own, SPEND YOUR PARENTS HARD EARNED MONEY ON SOMETHING ELSE.
