Hi. Daughter took the SAT 10/10/2009. Her high school counselor says the other students got their results back. Daughter did not: online there was a statement in bold red font that said her test scores were delayed, she was part of a small percentage of test takers who were delayed and it would be 7 to 10 days before the score was issued.

Anyway, today I checked online for her and the red blurb was gone, so I thought all was resolved. But when I checked for her test scores there was nothing there! So I called the ETS and asked what's happening.

The rep told me that there were "scoring irregularities" on her test and that the rep would have to request a "release of data" so the scores could be sent to "upper management" for review. The rep told me that we would probably hear back within 5 to 7 business days and then she asked for our phone number and e-mail. She said they would call (via phone) with the scores at no charge.

What does this mean?

i have not experienced this situation before but it is most likely due to your daughter not filling in her information correctly or that there is a "possibility" that her answers were similar to someone in her classroom. Please don't get me wrong, i'm not accusing your daughter of cheating, but if cheating occurs, their scores will get delayed or cancelled.

It can indicate possble cheating (not of daughter but any one in the room or area of the room she was in which freezes a whole group of tests); it could indicate that someone in the room has protested the test taking because, for example, the protor gave five less minutes than actually allowed for a section. In other words, there is some irregualarity that may or may not invlove your daughter but she is affected by just being in the same room.
