That's so stupid. Your counselor is a jerk for saying that.

2120 is a great score. My valedictorian got a 2060. Second in the class got a 2330. So, I mean, really, it ranges. And you really shouldn't feel bad about that. Since when is top 3% in the nation bad?

Just a thought -- it's possible that the OP didn't study for the SAT as much as he could have.

At my high school, the ones who scored the highest were indeed the ones who prepped (myself and a few friends prepped and all ended up with high 1500's on the old SAT), whereas the ones who were smart but did not study as hard still did well, but not outstandingly so compared to what we were clocking.

Maybe you would do better on the ACT? Anyway, a 2120 won't keep you from getting an acceptance, no matter where, it simply will add more stress onto the other parts of your application.

Take the ACT, I'm aware that your concern is actually legitimate-- the SAT abuses mutiple choice to the max with partial answers or "choose the bes" to just make you get problems wrong even if you know how to do them plus that 1/4 penalty. ACt doesn't do this, it's straightup skill, no worthless comprehension (I thought that was the reading section, oh wait that's just a bunch of vocabulary) in a math section and the reading sections actually tests your reading comprehension.

The problem is you're looking at your SATs the wrong way. Colleges look at the scores INDIVIDUALLY, not altogether. IF you got a 700+ on each section, then that would certainly reflect your high class rank and thus you s have a great chance for college.

and your counselor sounds like a complete ******, you should probably report that to the principal or Board of Education

I have the same problem but worse. Im ranked 1/480 but I have a low SAT score for some of the places im applying to. I am horrrible at standardized tests and I got a 1980. Im waiting for act score to come... but honestly, youre gonna be fine. Except the fact that most schools do not superscore!
