Should I send SAT, ACT, or both?

My college guidance counselor suggests sending both ACT and SAT scores because the most selective colleges require a full testing history. How true is this? I have a 1980 SAT (first time testing...I'm sure it'll go up) and a 32 ACT. I'm looking at UPenn and Johns Hopkins mostly, and a 32 ACT is comfortably within their median 50% of ACT scores. Do I even have to send my lower SAT scores?

Well this came straight from Pen''s admissions site:
"Penn requires either the SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests OR the ACT with Writing. No preference is given to either test. However, Penn requires that applicants submit all testing results from each administration of the ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests"

...sort of sounds like they want EVERYTHING you've ever taken. Am I misinterpreting this?

^ Well yeah, but they don't KNOW that you have sent them all. It's a loop-hole in the system. They will never know you even took the SAT b/c collegeboard doesn't notify anyone. If it is already on your transcript then... thats not good, but they will never KNOW for sure. I have never heard of them being able to find out if you witheld scores.

If it's on your transcript it is pretty obvious that you took it.

Octobergirl92--I interpreted Penn's website differently from the way you did. I would reword it: You can send us the SAT or the ACT. Whether you choose the SAT or the ACT, send us the scores for each date you took that particular test.
