I just took their diagnostic test and scored measely 1590. I feel the need to take Elite's summer boot camp, considering I will probably not have time to self-study due to my involvement in cross country and having 4 AP classes junior year. Also, I think that taking the camp will actually push me to study and focus and not procrastinate. I feel like I won't absorb as much if I self-study, especially when the school year starts because I need to focus on my academics. And since it's during the summer, i can focus on the prep classes instead of dividing my focus and attention for my academic classes. My parents' concern is basically the fee, which is pretty expensive. They don't want me to take it because they don't think it's worth it.. But I do work hard when I am given something and someone supervises me. But i find it hard to focus when i'm given a 400page review book with no one to guide me. And besides, after reading a lot of posts about Elite (i will be (hopefully, if my parents say yes) going to the Northridge branch) i feel like i'll benefit alot... So, thoughts? Comments? Any advice is welcome!

I didn't even take any SAT Prep course and scored perfect. Also, I believe that it basically depends on your mindset. You must be willing to spend hours and hours to practice for SAT, and if your parents say that they think it's not worth it, just don't take that prep course. You can always practice by yourself.

Elite's decent. I worked for them in Korea many years ago. If you need external motivation, the boot camp should help your score.

Elite is great! Which one are you taking it? I took the one at Northridge. I spent every saturday for 8.5 hours for almost 3 months at the 2100 plus boot camp last summer. At that time, I just couldn't get much of the new info into my head so my scores didn't change that much from upper 1950s to an average of mid 2000s. But after several months, my practice scores jumped to upper 2100s and now, preparing for the fall SAT, my practice SAT scores are in the upper 2200s. It's like all the info totally makes sense now.
BTW, most of the Elite SAT tests are a bit harder than collegeboard but that should help you rather than hurt you.

If you can stand a few hours (for weekdays) or an entire saturday of nothing but SAT stuff for a month or more then go for it. It's not too tough and the teachers and students at my branch were all extremely nice though very competitive
