When to take the SAT

I took the November SAT to get in a prep school but I plan on taking it again. Should I take it mid next year or after the summer? If I take it mid next year, I'd probably take it during June and study during the school year. If I take it after the summer, I'll obviously study over the summer but if I get into the prep school I'll also have to study for other subjects to do well on the placement exams. That means a lot of studying. What's your advice?
